The Latest Toyota GR 86 Comes to Indonesia at a Price of IDR 1 Billion

PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has officially introduced the New GR86 in Indonesia, presenting a sports car that has been enhanced in driving performance thanks to the touch of GAZOO Racing (GR).

One of the main changes in the New GR86 is the improvement in the shock absorber characteristics. This enhancement is claimed to increase tire contact with the asphalt for more responsive handling while maintaining a sporty feel. The collaboration between GR and Sachs (ZF) has resulted in shock absorbers that support this performance improvement.

Additionally, the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system in the New GR86 has been updated, allowing for more intuitive handling and a more natural response while driving.

Under the hood, the New GR86 still features the 2,387 cc 4-cylinder FA24 boxer engine, paired with advanced D-4S technology to enhance thermal efficiency. This engine can deliver a maximum power of 235 PS at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 250 Nm at 3,700 rpm. Like the previous model, this car still uses rear-wheel drive (RWD).

The sporty driving experience is further emphasized by the 6-speed manual transmission equipped with modified Engine Torque Control, making gear shifts more perceptible to the driver. The throttle control system has been optimized to provide sharper acceleration response, especially at high speeds.

In the 6-speed automatic variant, there is an improvement in engine speed tolerance during downshifts, making it easier to achieve maximum torque when the driver presses the gas pedal again.

In terms of design, the New GR86 retains the classic front-engine layout that is a hallmark of Toyota's sports cars. With a longer hood, low shoulders parallel to the hood line, a compact cabin, and a wider body. The new Moss Green color replaces the Oasis Blue, complementing six other color options.

Inside, there are several style upgrades, such as the Automatic Interior Light Off Function that activates when the door is opened or closed, turn signal stalk with automatic lock, and a change in seat stitching color from red to black. The New GR86 also comes with the latest T Intouch technology that supports internet access.

Customers also have the opportunity to personalize their New GR86 through the Toyota Customization Option (TCO) specifically for the model. Various quality accessories are available for selection, such as GR Sports Muffler, GR Aero Stabilizing Cover, GR Sports Side Visor, GR Interior Panel Set, GR Knee Pad, and GR Sun Shade.

PT TAM also offers the T-CARE program, providing free periodic service up to the 7th service (maximum of 3 years/60,000 km) and an additional warranty for 1 year or 20,000 km.
