The video recorder mentioned, "Wow, it looks like there's an accident at GIIAS, guys. There's someone in the car, reversing the car, and hitting something. Oh, darn, darn, it's not on the calendar. So, be careful," said the recorder in the video uploaded on Saturday (29/9/2024).
A similar incident occurred at Mall Of Indonesia (MOI), Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, when an Omoda E5 car being exhibited accidentally moved forward because a child stepped on the gas pedal, causing the car to hit the mall wall.
The standard safety practice applied in automotive exhibitions is to ensure that the exhibited vehicles are not running. However, in case of accidents like this, should visitors be held responsible for the damages caused?
The editorial team has tried to contact Andy Wismarsyah, President Director of Seven Even as the organizer of the GIIAS automotive exhibition, but there has been no response as of the release of this news.
Meanwhile, Rudi MF, General Manager of Dyandra Promosindo, stated that organizers usually have insurance prepared to anticipate such incidents. "For exhibitions, organizers usually have insurance, so incidents like this will be covered. Everything is insured, including the buildings and related work," said Rudi when contacted by Kompas.com on Monday (30/9/2024).
Rudi also explained that this policy may vary depending on the exhibition organizer. "It depends on a case-by-case basis in exhibitions. However, generally, organizers have insurance prepared. Brands usually have their own insurance as well, so it depends on the situation," added Rudi.
